CBD Dosing Guidelines
If you have questions about dosing and trying to determine the best CBD dose to take for your specific needs, read below and we’ll try to guide you through finding your own personal sweet spot.
One thing to keep in mind with the actual oil itself is that consistency is key. We hear it often that someone will say CBD doesn’t work for them. When we ask why, the most common answer is that they’ve tried it and it didn’t do anything. In fact, this was even the case with Angie! She was on day 3 with the oil and made a comment that she didn’t think it was working. I encouraged her to stick with it, being consistent with her dose and schedule for at least a week. It was the very next day that she realized it was working and how powerful CBD could be!
The reason for this is because CBD needs to build up in your body before it can work it’s magic. You see, we all are supposed to create all the cannabinoids we need. None of us should even need CBD. The reason we do is that our “endocannabinoid system” is so out of balance that it cannot do it’s job. We need to be consistent when taking our CBD so that we can rebalance our endocannabinoid system and let our bodie’s do what it is supposed to do naturally!
Another thing to take into consideration when determining your personal dosing is your metabolism. CBD and other cannabinoids remain active in your body for 8-14 hours depending on your metabolism. If you have a slower metabolism, you should take CBD twice a day. If you have a faster metabolism, you should take CBD 3 times a day. This will not have an effect on the milligrams consumed everyday, rather it will tell you how many take at once. For example, if your dose is 20 mg per day and you have a slower metabolism, you should take 10 mg twice daily to get to your 20 mg. However, if you have a faster metabolism, you should take about 7 mg, 3 times per day to get you to your goal of 20 mg per day. I hope that makes sense.
Below I will give the daily doses I recommend for certain issues and you can determine if you need to break that up into 2 or 3 different individual doses to get to your daily goal. Again, consistency is key, so don’t give up or increase the dosage until at least a week. After a week, if you feel like you need more, you can slowly increase by 25% daily until you get to your desired level of relief. To do this, increase 25% and then stay on that dosage for 3 days at least, but 4-5 is better, before increasing again. Also, don’t forget, we are always easily reached via the contact form below or via email, phone or text.
One of the main reasons people want to try CBD is for the amazing pain relief benefits. Some have tried it and say it doesn’t work for them. This is most often the case if they tried a brand that was not honest about what was in the bottle or if they bought a milligram that was too weak. For pain relief, we start people off on a minimum of our 1000mg strength oil in Full Spectrum if not susceptible to drug testing as the THC is a great pain reliever. If you are susceptible to drug testing, then you’ll want to stick with our Broad Spectrum oil.
If the pain is more severe, consider going with one of the stronger milligram oils, such as the 3000 mg. This is a full 100mg/mL which a very strong dose. In fact, with this oil, each individual drop contains 5mg of CBD. So, another great reason to choose the stronger mg bottle is that you can take less of it at each dosing. For example, if your recommended daily dose is 33 mg, you could buy the 3000mg bottle and only take 3 drops twice a day. This would save you almost $50 in the long run.
Another option is our specialty tinctures. We now offer a tincture designed specifically for pain – (And This One)We did this by taking our full spectrum oil and adding cannabinol (CBN), which has been shown to be very effective in reducing pain. It’s more expensive because it requires a lot more plant material since CBN is available in such small quantities in the plant, but it is also much more effective!
Help with Sleeping
Another main reasons people want to try CBD is for the help it brings with falling and staying asleep. For moderate sleep relief, we recommend 16 mg daily so we usually start people off on a mimimum of our 500mg strength oil in Full Spectrum if not susceptible to drug testing as the THC is a great sleep aid. If you are susceptible to drug testing, then you’ll want to stick with our Broad Spectrum oil.
If you need a bit more help with sleep, consider going with one of the stronger milligram oils, such as the 15000 mg. This is a full 30mg/mL which a fairly strong dose for sleep. Another great reason to choose the stronger mg bottle is that you can take less of it at each dosing.
Another option is our specialty tinctures. We now offer a tincture designed specifically for sleep – (And This One)We did this by taking our full spectrum oil and adding cannabinol (CBN), which has been shown to be twice as effective as a sleep aid than the prescription diazepam. It’s more expensive because it requires a lot more plant material since CBN is available in such small quantities in the plant, but it is also much more effective!
There is one difference when it comes to using CBD for sleep than using it for all other issues and that is that it can be taken only once a day. To use CBD for sleep, take the dose about 30-60 minutes before bed.
Stress, Anxiety & Depression
The next big reason people turn to CBD is to help with stress, anxiety and depression. I recommend 16-33 mg daily for these symptoms depending on severity, and again, consistency is key. With this, you will break up this dose into the 2-3 individual doses as highlighted above. The 500 mg is 16.6 mg per mL and the 1000 mg is 33.3 mg per mL. While I almost always recommend choosing the Full Spectrum over the Broad Spectrum, this is one time where I might suggest the Broad Spectrum instead. The reason is that some studies have shown that THC can occasionally cause anxiety in some people.
Another option is our specialty tinctures. We now offer a tincture designed specifically for happiness! We did this by taking our full spectrum or broad spectrum oil and adding cannabigerol (CBG), which has been shown to be very effective in reducing pain. It’s more expensive because it requires a lot more plant material since CBG is available in such small quantities in the plant, but it is also much more effective!
There are a couple options for this, actually. We have the oils, of course (which are great for helping with this), but we also sell a handcrafted (bean to bar) CBD infused chocolate bar. We all know that chocolate is great for helping us deal with these symptoms, so infusing chocolate with CBD was a no brainer. This is a low dose option because we know you won’t be able to stop at just one square. With the chocolate, you could either use this as your sole daily regimen or simply take the oil in the morning and savor the CBD Chocolate in the evening!
CBD Milligrams Explained
All CBD companies, including Angie’s Gardens, label their bottles in both mL (milliliters) and mg (milligrams). Angie’s Gardens only sells 30 mL bottles as this is by far the most common size when buying CBD. The mg listed on the front of the bottle is the total amount of milligrams in the entire bottle. So to get the mg per mL (milligrams per milliliter) you take the total mg divided by the total mL and you get your milligrams per milliliter. Also, each dropper full is 1 mL. One more thing, there are approximately 20 drops in each mL so you can further the math by dividing the mg per mL by 20 to get the mg per drop!
To make this easier, Angie’s Gardens has done the math for you and listed the mg/mL on the side of the bottle. You can always find it there on the side. I am also going to list the mg/mL below since we are going over dosing here.
250 mg | 8.3 mg per mL | ~.5 mg per drop
500 mg | 16.6 mg per mL | ~.1 mg per drop
1000 mg | 33.3 mg per mL | ~1.5 mg per drop
1500 mg | 50 mg per mL | 2.5 mg per drop
2000 mg | 66.6 mg per mL | ~.3
mg per drop
3000 mg | 100 mg per mL | 5 mg per drop
